Under this agreement, the US will gain majority control over Venezuela’s proven crude oil reserves of over 65 billion barrels. Trump claims that this historic transaction will more than double US oil reserves and significantly increase US oil supplies. Announcing the agreement on social media, Donald Trump wrote, “The United States has just reached the largest oil deal in world history with the country of Venezuela.” The US President stated that this agreement was negotiated between Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, and Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez. Trump wrote on Truth Social, “At my behest, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Secretary of War Pete Hegseth, in collaboration with Venezuela’s highly respected interim President Delcy Rodriguez and in partnership with private companies, have secured majority control for the United States over 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves in Venezuela. This agreement cost the US no American taxpayer money.” He stated that the agreement is highly beneficial to America’s energy supply and claimed that it will more than double US oil reserves and help lower gas prices. Venezuela’s interim President Delcy Rodriguez welcomed the agreement, saying it will generate significant revenue for the country’s treasury. According to the schedule, CM Dhami will depart for Haldwani Gaulapar via helicopter from the DPS School grounds in Rudrapur in the morning and arrive at the Gaulapar Stadium helipad at 12 noon. The Chief Minister will then depart by car for the Uttarakhand State Sports University. Five minutes later, he will arrive at the university campus to attend the ceremony. He will also participate in the groundbreaking ceremony and foundation stone laying ceremony of the Uttarakhand State Sports University, as well as the National Sports Day ceremony, and will depart from the Sports University for ITDC Fortune in Haldwani at 2 pm. CM Dhami lay foundation stone for Sports University During this visit, the Chief Minister will interact with people from the industry and business world. The Chief Minister will then arrive in the ITDC Fortuner near the District Cooperative Bank in Anand Bagh and participate in the program held there. China’s President May Visit India in September for BRICS Summit, 400-Member Chinese Delegation Expected
Chinese President Xi Jinping may visit India on September 12 and 13, 2026, to attend the BRICS Summit in New Delhi, according to sources. Xi is expected to be accompanied by a large Chinese delegation of around 400 officials. However, there has been no official confirmation of his visit so far. According to sources, Chinese officials are reportedly working on arrangements related to accommodation and security ahead of the proposed visit. If confirmed, Xi’s visit would mark his first trip to India in nearly seven years. Xi Jinping last visited India in October 2019, when he met Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the second informal India-China summit in Mamallapuram near Chennai. At that time, the Chinese delegation accompanying Xi reportedly had fewer than 200 officials. The proposed delegation of around 400 officials this time would therefore be significantly larger. Visit Comes After Years of India-China Tensions Xi’s possible visit comes against the backdrop of efforts to improve relations between India and China following the military confrontation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. In May-June 2020, Indian and Chinese troops were involved in a violent clash in the Galwan Valley. Twenty Indian soldiers and four Chinese soldiers were killed in the confrontation. The incident was followed by a prolonged military standoff, with both countries deploying large numbers of troops and equipment along the border. The tensions significantly affected bilateral relations between New Delhi and Beijing and remained a major challenge for diplomatic engagement between the two countries. Subhash Chandra’s ₹6.5 Crore Payout Gets NCLT Nod, Congress Calls It a ‘Mundan’
The National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) has approved a repayment plan under which businessman and Zee Group founder Subhash Chandra will pay ₹6.5 crore against admitted creditor claims of around ₹22,006.57 crore. The decision has triggered a political reaction, with the Congress questioning the extremely low recovery for lenders. The approved amount works out to a recovery of only around 0.03% of the admitted claims, meaning lenders face a reduction of nearly 99.97%. Congress Takes a Sharp Dig Reacting to the NCLT decision, Congress leader Jairam Ramesh took a sharp swipe at the repayment plan. Referring to the financial term ‘haircut’, used when creditors agree to recover less than the amount owed, Ramesh said this was not merely a haircut but a “mundan”. He alleged that the decision makes a “complete mockery” of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. There was no immediate public reaction from Subhash Chandra or his group to the Congress criticism. Why the Payout Became Controversial The repayment plan had faced objections from some creditors, including LIC Housing Finance, which argued that the proposed recovery was too small and that the plan was not viable or lawful. According to reports, the objections were rejected after the tribunal considered the voting pattern among creditors. A major allocation of ₹84.89 crore has been approved as the second instalment for the 2025-26 financial year under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. Pachisia, posted as City SP in Katni, was named in an FIR along with two others in connection with the alleged coercive purchase of around 2.15 hectares of land in Kanhwara. The case involves allegations of extortion, cheating, criminal conspiracy and misuse of official position. According to the investigation, the land was allegedly registered for around ₹18.20 lakh, despite a much higher government guideline value. Investigators are also examining a ₹15 lakh transfer made shortly before the property registration and the source of the funds. Following the FIR, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav ordered Pachisia’s suspension and directed officials to ensure an impartial investigation. The government has said strict action will follow if the allegations are proved. Pachisia had earlier attracted attention after securing 20th rank in the MPPSC examination and moving from aviation to the police service. She is now facing scrutiny over the Katni land case, with the investigation still underway. The allegations have not been proven in court, and the accused are entitled to due process.
