In light of the recent Badrinath donation scam, the Uttarakhand High Court has dismissed the plea of Pramod Nautiyal, a suspended employee accused of financial irregularities during the counting of Thali offerings made by devotees at the world-famous Badrinath Temple, to quash his suspension order, the FIR filed with the police, and to stay his arrest. The government also alerted the court and informed the court that the accused has been arrested, which is why the petition was dismissed.
The court stated in its order that the accused has been arrested, rendering the petition for a stay of arrest meaningless. The case was heard before a single bench of Justice Alok Mehra.

According to the lawsuit filed in the matter, the temple committee received information from social media on July 2, 2026. Following this, the counting of Thali offerings at the Shri Badrinath Temple commenced, during which financial irregularities in the Thali offerings were revealed. Taking cognizance of this, a departmental inquiry committee was formed as per the orders of the temple committee chairman. The departmental inquiry committee’s initial report revealed that temple committee employee Pramod Nautiyal had allegedly illegally collected money from the Thali Bhet counting site between 9:00 and 9:30 am.

Following this incident, the temple committee immediately suspended the accused employee Pramod Nautiyal. In compliance with the temple committee’s order, Yudhveer Pushpavan, the temple officer in charge of the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee, filed a written complaint at the Sri Badrinath Kotwali police station and registered a case against the accused. Based on this, the police have registered a case under relevant sections.
